Spectacular Squamish!

January proved once more that the west coast climate can be absolutely remarkable, and in the best possible way.

Our real estate climate is also quite remarkable, primarily for its strength – but also its unpredictability. We remain comfortably settled in a buyer-driven market, but how much longer will that last? Will lower mortgage rates and pent-up demand lead to another strong run this year? After the holiday season, our listing activity has not increased nearly as quickly as it has in the past few years but that should change in the coming weeks so what does that mean for the spring market? Will sellers who’ve been sitting on the sidelines come to market now to avoid the typical spring price competition? Will buyers remain patient and continue to put downward pressure on prices? Will the foreign buyer ban extension have any effect? Will the finally-about-to-come-to-market Squamish Oceanfront project become the frontrunner for recreational second home ownership?

Lots of questions, as always. Despite much global uncertainty, I do expect 2025 to be another strong year for our market; there’s just so much good stuff going on in and around our community. One thing is certain: it’s still a really, really good time to be a buyer here. Will that change this year?… time will tell. My crystal ball is not perfect, but if you’d like to make an informed decision, I can help.
