Wet Weather Fun

What to do when it’s cold and wet outside? Well, I love to be out in the forest regardless of weather, so I typically carry a pruner and a folding saw so I can maintain the trails I love to use.

Walking in wet weather is quite pleasant if you’ve got the rainwear, and a little bit of cleaning up goes a long way toward enhancing the trail experience on days when you’d rather be hiking, walking the dog, trail running, mountain biking… you get the picture.

I take so much pleasure from our trail networks and I welcome this time of year when trail maintenance becomes a personal priority. Over the years my work has become more sophisticated and I love to leave as little evidence of my efforts as possible in order to preserve the natural experience for other trail users.

Bottom line: fun, personally rewarding, and free of charge!
